Sometimes there is a need to run a test stream, or to run a stream that you don’t want to advertise as scheduled or running because it isn’t an official public meeting. This can be accomplished by using the Privacy Setting feature.

Every scheduled meeting has a Privacy Setting which can be set to Public or Unlisted.

Privacy setting is Public

Public means that the scheduled meeting appears on the home page of your portal in the Upcoming Meetings section, and the recorded meeting will be visible in the Recorded Meetings section of the portal.

Privacy setting is Unlisted

Unlisted means that the scheduled meeting will not appear in the Upcoming Meetings list, and that the recording will not appear in the Recorded Meetings list or be discoverable in search.

When running an Unlisted live stream, the live event page for the channel is still accessible to anyone who has the link. It is not password protected. It is simply not visible to the public that there is a live stream running on that page.

This is useful if you are testing encoder settings, for example, and want to go live but don’t want to show “test of encoder settings” as the current live meeting.

Where to manage the privacy setting

The Privacy Setting is found on the Create Live Meeting page and also on the Edit Live Meeting page as shown below.
