In the live streaming section of the admin portal, you can create Live Sources. These are the sources of the live stream from the playerโs point of view. Ravnur uses Azure Media Services (AMS) to encode and deliver live streams to the player, and you can create up to five AMS streaming servers (AMS documentation calls these Live Events) as live sources. If you need more than five, please contact Ravnur Support.
If you would like to stream from a streaming server other than AMS, such as from a Wowza server or a CDN, you can do that using the Generic Live Source option. The Generic Live Source allows you to enter an HLS .m3u8 playlist URL and send that to the player. Everything remains essentially the same with a few differences listed below.
- Generic live source streams are not recorded and converted to VOD assets
- Generic live sources cannot use the AMS automatic captioning service unless it is sent through AMS.
