Trimming is an important part of post-production editing because it makes the video more relevant for the viewer. The web-based trim editor makes it easy to cut the beginning and ending slates and parts where there is no useful content.

General

Trimming a video does not alter the original video. Instead, it creates a new version (and turns on Versioning) that becomes the active version and is downloadable. The original video is saved, and you can revert to the original video if you need to.

Because trimming creates a new physical version of the video, it takes some time to copy and cut the original video. During this time, the caption creation, face detection and cue point creation functionalities are disabled.

To increase the processing speed, the trimming is not frame accurate. Your in- and out-points for the cuts are accurate only to the nearest keyframe. This is normally within a 2 second window, and for a meeting this should have no effect on the trimmed version.

Trimming a video

You can access the Trim editor by clicking on your desired video and then clicking on the Video editor button below the player. This takes you to the web editors and youโ€™ll land on the Trim editor tab.

Below the player is a timeline displaying selected keyframes from the video. There are blue handles on either end of the timeline, and you can drag these handles to set the corresponding in- and out-points. The vertical red line is the Current Time Indicator (CTI) and moves with the player. You can move the CTI to advance the player, or you can use the player to advance the CTI. The CTI gives you visual indication of where the player is on the timeline.

Once you have adjusted the right and left handles to set the in- and out-points, click on Trim to begin the trimming process.
